Colorado License Plates
Written by Jake on November 2, 2009 – 9:31 pm -1913 was the first year Colorado issued their license plates. Before this, cities would issue numbers and you made your own plate. The 1913, 1914, and 1915 Colorado license plates were made of porcelain. The numbers on the 1919 and 1920 Colorado plates were individually cut pieces. They were then spot welded on the heavy license plate blank. 1920 large county plates were very large. Some measured 5 1/2" X 16", while others measured 6" X 14" with numbers 5/8" wide and 4" tall. The 1931, 1932, 1933, and 1934 Colorado license plates were stamped of very heavy metal and were very difficult to bend. Restoring Antique License Plates

Some folks however, need those Antique License Plates for other reasons. Antique or "classic" cars and trucks, are prize possessions to many people. Many hours are put into restorations and great care is taken to make sure they stay in tip top shape. Those that have classic cars also want that finishing touch by adding a license plate that bares the year the car or truck was produced. You can check with your local DMV office to be certain, but many states now allow Vintage License Plates on collector cars. Where Do I Find Antique Plates?
Written by Jake on September 22, 2008 – 9:42 am -The age old question and I guess the basic of questions when it comes to License Plate Collecting. Where do I find all the plates I'm looking for? There are so many resources on the internet these days, but the internet wasn't always available. Imagine how hard it was to build a collection before the days of the information highway! We do have this wonderful avenue called the internet that helps us find our treasures, but we thought we would list some of the more popular places people find these wonderful collectibles. Junk Yards - Yes you may be surprised at what you can find in a junk yard. Imagine drudging way back to the rear of the junk yard.
